WAPELLO — Winfield-Mt. Union couldn’t find their offense in an SEISC North Division road game at Wapello on Monday night. The Wolves fell 3-0 to the hosting arrows after dropping the game 3-2 in extra innings when the two teams met up in Winfield last week.
Starting pitcher Madie Anderson kept the Arrows silent through the first four innings. Wapello put all three of their runs in the fifth inning and the Wolves couldn’t get any runs back.
Anderson threw six innings, giving up three earned runs on four hits and two walks. She struck out 12 batters in the loss.
Jobey Malone was 2-3 with a double to lead the W-MU offense. Kyndal Townsley went 2-3 with a stolen base. Anna Anderson was 1-2 with a walk,a dn Keetyn Townsley went 1-3.
The Wolves have won three of their last five games, with both losses coming to the Arrows. That was the last meeting between the two teams this season.
After the loss, W-MU is now 11-6 overall this season.
The Wolves will host Columbus in their next game, on Thursday, June 20. W-MU previously defeated the Wildcats 10-0 earlier this season.
