MEDAPOLIS — Winfield-Mt. Union’s softball team skunked Mediapolis in a SEISC North Division doubleheader on Tuesday. The Wolves won games 10-0 and 12-0 to pick up a couple of conference wins.
In game one, W-MU scored five runs in the first inning, four int he fourth and one in the fifth. The game only lasted five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Madie Anderson was 3-3 with an RBI in the win. Anna Anderson went 2-4 with an RBI. Liana Sweezer was 1-3 with two RBIs. Molly Miller went 103 with an RBI, and Carlee Sloan was 2-3. The Wolves stole 15 bases on the day, including four by Thea Urias and three each by Isabella Mertens and Kyndal Townsley.
In game two, W-MU scored six runs in the second inning, two in the fourth and four in the fifth. Once again, the game ended after five innings.
Anna was 2-3 with two RBIs. Sloan didn’t record an official at bat, but ended the game with two RBIs and three runs scored. Keetyn Townsley went 1-3 with an RBI, and Madie had an RBI as well.
Madie pitched almost completely identical games. In both games, she threw five shutout innings, giving up two hits and no walks. In both games she struck out 11 batters. The only difference between the two contests as that she threw 70 pitches in game one and 69 in game two.
W-MU is now 10-4 on the season. They’ll host Wapello tonight (Wednesday) in another SEISC North Division game.
