WAYLAND — The WACO basketball teams were swept at home on Friday but a couple of tough West Burlington teams. The boys fell 70-58 and the girls lost 51-19.

The Warrior boys trailed 12-9 after the first quarter and 27-22 at the half. West Burlington outscored WACO 43-37 in the second half to wrap up the 12-point win.

Drew Kissell scored 13 points in the loss, and also co-led the team with four assists. Nik Coble had 11 points and had nine rebounds. Colton Horak had nine points and nine rebounds Elijah McGohan scored eight points and dished out four assists. Gabe Reichenbach had six points. Dalton Diers scored four, and Matthew Leichty had two.

The girls’ team trailed by just three points, at 9-6, after the first quarter. West Burlington stretched their lead to 23-10 before halftime and ran away with it during the second half.

Laney Graber, Grace Conwell and Maysan Lee had five points apiece. Ashleigh Hallett and Lela-Ann Fort scored two points each, and Kirsten Conley led the team with six rebounds and four steals.
