DONNELSON —The Winfield-Mt. Union softball team has now won six games in a row. The Wolves dumped IMS 6-2 on Tuesday in Kalona, and then picked up a 3-1 road win at Central Lee on Wednesday.
The Wolves scored the first six runs of the game at IMS. They scored two runs int eh first inning, three int he second and one in the fourth. IMS put up two in the fourth but couldn’t score anymore.
Keetyn Townsley had another big game, going 3-4 with three stolen bases. Anna Anderson was 2-3 with three RBIs and two stolen bases. Madie Anderson and Kyndal Townsley each went 0-4 with an RBI, and Carlee Sloan stole a base.
Madie threw all seven innings, giving up just two earned runs over that time. The W-MU sophomore gave up one hit and one walk, while striking out 13 batters.
The Wolves had just two hits in their win at Central Lee on Wednesday, but that didn’t stop them from bringing home a win. W-MU scored a run in the fourth and two in the sixth, giving up just one run in the bottom half of the sixth.
Molly Miller went 1-3 with a double and an RBI. Anna Anderson was 2-4. Madie went 0-3 with an RBI, as did Liana Sweezer.
Madie continued to dominate in the circle, throwing seven innings and giving up one earned run on three hits and one walk. She struck out 16 more batters in the win.
The Lady Wolves are now 6-1 overall. They’ll host Lone Tree tonight (Thursday) in SEISC North Division action.
