GREENVILLE, Ill. -- It was your typical high-scoring affair on Wednesday night when Iowa Wesleyan and Greenville University met for the first of two matchups in 2019. The Tigers fell 150-109, falling to 2-5 in conference play.
Greenville’s high-octane offense was on full display in the first quarter. The Panthers put up 83 points in the first half and the Tigers found themselves in an 83-54 halftime hole.
IW scored over 50 points in both halves, but the Tigers could never get back into the game after the first half. Greenville forced 48 IW turnovers en route to a 41-point victory.
Jarryd Fernandes was the leading scorer for IW in the loss. He had a monster game statistically, putting up 35 points and 18 rebounds. Camron Mack scored 20 points on the night, and Austin Rebel finished the day with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Jake Neubauer and Austin Banks scored nine points each in the loss. Brian Patterson scored eight. Joshua Cole and Alberto Torres had seven, and Kaleb Cresswell finished with three.
IW fell to 4-10 overall in the year, and 2-5 in the SLIAC. The Tigers will be at Fontbonne University on Saturday, Jan. 12. After that, the Tigers will host four of their five remaining games in January.
