CEDAR RAPIDS — The Mt. Pleasant boys’ track and field team took thrd place in the Cedar Rapids Jefferson meet on Tuesday. Mt. Pleasant won four events on the dya and scored 97 points.
Chase Lamm took the top spot in the 110-meter high hurdles, winning it in 15.22 seconds. Cody Mertens picked up a win in the distance events, taking the 3200-meter hurdles in 10:20.09.
The Panthers won two field events. Sam Beatty came out on top in the high jump. He leaped 6-10.3.25. Rylan Seberg won the long jump with a leap of 21-10.07.
Mt. Pleasant had three second-place finishes in the field. Zach Beason was second in the discus throw with a 162-11.50, and Riley McQuiggin took second in the shot put with a throw of 47-05.50.
Jacob Stukerjurgen gave Mt. Pleasant a second place finish on the track. He took silver in the 800 with a final time of 2:01.52.
Mt. Pleasant will be on the road for their next meet on Thursday, April 18, when they head to Eddyville for a meet hosted by Eddyville-Blakesburg-Freemont. The Panther girls’ team will be in action in Washington on the same night.
