All four Henry County teams were on hand on Thursday night as the area’s boys’ track and field teams showed out at the Denny White Realays in Mt. Pleasant. It was the hosting Panthers who put on the best show, dominating Class A with 157.50 points.
The Panthers once again had a great day in the field, winning three of the four events. Sam Beatty won the high jump with a leap of 6-06. Rylan Seberg took the long jump with a 22-03, and Zach Beason won the discus with a hurl of 165-09.
Cody Mertens picked up a win in the 3200-meter run, crossing the line in 9:58.87. Chase Lamm took the 110-meter high hurdles, taking it in 15.90 seconds, and Brody Bender won the 800-meter run, crossing the line in 2:06.36.
Two Mt. Pleasant relays finished in first. The shuttle hurdle relay team of Zach Beason, Tate Shull, Konnor Peterson and Chase Lamm took the race in 1:01.49. The distance medley relay team of Khang Truong, Lamm, Seberg and Jacob Stukerjurgen dominated the distance medley, winning it in 3:38.58.
Winfield-Mt. Union had three wins in Class B, scoring 57 points on the day. The Wolves were led by another great showing from Brandon Snowden, who took the 100-meter dash in 11.59 seconds, and the 200-meter dash in 23.41 seconds.
The W-MU 4X100 team also won. The squad of Brody Barton, Juanito Piper, Dane Sweezer and Snowden crossed the tape in 46.08.
New London scored 54 points on the day. Their lone win came from Darius Whaley, who jumped 5-10 in the high jump, narrowly beating out W-MU’s Talon Newton, who jumped a 5-08.
WACO scored 32 points on the day. Colton Horak had the only Warrior win of the night, taking the Class B 110-meter high hurdles in 16.78 seconds.
