TIPTON — The Danville-New London girls are headed to state. D-NL placed three girls in the top 12 in their state meet at Tipton, and ended the meet with 85 points for third place and a ticket to Ft. Dodge.
The team was led once again by the duo of Lexi Brown and Addy Parrott. Brown ran a 19:14.5 for third place, and Parrott was fourth, in 19:16.5. Alyssa Pfadenhauer wasn’t too far behind those two, taking 12th place in 20:17.7.
D-NL filled in the rest of the field nicely enough to hold on for a top-three spot. Carissa Mackey was 28th. Lilly Garnsey finished 40th. Breann Yaley finished 49th, and Lia Reighard was 53rd.
The boys’ team didn’t quite make it into the top three teams, finishing fifth place with 122 points, but D-NL did advance two runners individually.
Alexander Julian picked up a top-10 finish for D-NL, finishing ninth place in 17:18.4. Ty Carr was 13th, in 17:26.3.
Gabriel Gourley barely missed out on a spot, finishing in 17th. Oliver Sowell placed 38th. Max Wilcox was 49th. Mason Chipman finished 57th. Seth Bailey was 62nd.
In Iowa City, both Winfield-Mt. Union and WACO were unable to get anyone through to state. Brody Barton nearly advanced for W-MU, but ended up 19th, in 5:57.7. That was the closest any of the Wolves or Warriors would come.
