Every week, the Mt. Pleasant News will feature a Henry County resident in a profile snapshot. This week’s friend is Travis Richards who you may knowas an assistant manager at Walmart.
Are you originally from Mt. Pleasant/Henry County? If not, what brought you here? My dad had some health issues so I moved back, was looking for a job and Walmart interviewed me as an external, which is pretty rare; I got the job and I’ve been happy ever since.
What is your favorite part of living here? Just being able to go to local places like Press Box or Keos Bar and Grill My friends, too. I still have some friends who live and work here and coming back to that was comforting in a way.
What do you like to do in your free time? I love to play with my dog and just go on walks. I love to play video games too, maybe a little too much, but any free time I get I give it to my dog first. We go out to East Lake and she loves it when the weather’s nice.
What is your favorite spring activity? I missed playing at the golf course when I was gone. I was nice and comfortable there and I go to other ones and it’s all a mess, but I’m excited to get out on the golf course here.
What is one thing you’ve not tried that you would like to? I’ve been to Old Threshers but I’ve never gone to the concerts. I think that would be cool to check out and see what that’s like. You sort of overlook it when you live here, but now as I’m older I appreciate what it is and what it brings for the town.
Is there something Mt. Pleasant doesn’t have that you’d like to see? Variety with restaurants would be cool. It would be cool to have a nice Italian restaurant since that’s some of my favorite food.
Tell us something interesting about you? I think unlike most people I enjoy working, especially here at Walmart, they give you a lot of freedom to merchandise so it’s cool to come up with your own plan inside of their overarching ideas.
