Salem man arrested for driving with suspended license

A traffic stop lead to the arrest of a Salem man who was found to be driving while having a barred and suspended Iowa driver’s license on Tuesday, March 5, at approximately 12:52 a.m.

John Eric Garretson, of Salem, was stopped at the intersection of Maple Street and Oak Street in Salem for having a non-functioning brake light by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday while driving a white 1996 Toyota Camry. After an investigation, it was found that he was driving while having a suspended driver’s license.

Garretson was arrested and transported to the Henry County Jail, where he was charged with driving while barred, an aggravated misdemeanor, and driving while license was under suspension, a simple misdemeanor.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
