The Mt. Pleasant Police Department and Henry County Sheriff’s Office will be accepting unwanted or expired prescription drugs on Saturday, April 27 for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
The Mt. Pleasant Police Department will be accepting unwanted prescriptions from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. They cannot accept needles or inhalers.
The DEA is coordinating a collaborative effort with state and local law enforcement agencies focused on removing potentially dangerous controlled substances from residents’ medicine cabinets.
This national take back day will provide a unified opportunity for the public to surrender expired, unwanted or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to law enforcement officers.
The medications will be destroyed and will bring national focus to the issue of pharmaceutical drug abuse.
The program provides an opportunity for law enforcement, prevention, treatment and business communities to collaborate and establish a safe collection site for everyone.
