2 juveniles in detention after altercation at Christamore House Wednesday

Two juvenile residents at the Christamore House in Mt. Pleasant were taken to the Lee County Juvenile Detention Center and two others remain at the facility after an altercation involving the residents and Christamore House staff was reported on Wednesday, Oct. 3.

Three Christamore House staff members were assaulted and two Mt. Pleasant Police officers after they responded to reports of an altercation at approximately 9:31 p.m. Wednesday.

One Christamore House staff member suffered injuries and was transported to the Henry County Health Center for treatment.

Officers filed multiple charges on all four juveniles involved. Charges include assaulting a police officer, a serious misdemeanor; attempting to disarm a police officer, a Class D felony; assault while participating in a felony, a Class D felony; interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor; disorderly conduct, a simple misdemeanor; and simple assault, a simple misdemeanor.

The Mt. Pleasant Police Department was assisted by the Henry County Sheriff’s Department, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, the New London Police Department, the Winfield Police Department, the Iowa Department of Transportation and an ambulance from the Henry County Health Center.
