Wayland High School Clas of 1954 held 64th reunion

The Wayland High School graduating class of 1954 held their 64th reunion on Sept. 8 at the Pizza Ranch in Washington. There were 17 people in attendance. After lunch, a short program was enjoyed.

Lorene Hill Allred lit a candle and read the 14 names of classmates who have died. The last class reunion was two years ago, and since then Royce Roth and Charlotte Koeble Scarff, of the Class of 1954, have died. Their classmates honored them with a moment of silence.

Four members who could not attend wrote letters, and Jean Kauffman Roth read them. The letters were from Paul Wenger, Duane Gingerich, Jim Eichelberger and Carol Stauffer Swartzendruber.

Everyone who attended shared something about life in the golden years. Those in attendance were Annibelle and Dan Unternahrer, Alice and Gene Wyse, Lorene and Frank Allred, Wilma and Don Gingerich, Norman and Ermidine Boshart, Dick and Mary Schlatter, Jim Davison, Rosemary Shuunaker, Doris Hauenstein, Jean Roth, Martha Widmer.

The next reunion will be in 2020. The planning committee, Dick Schlatter and Jim Davison, will set the date, location and time of the next reunion and send invitations.
