Director Mary Krohlow will hold open auditions for the Players Workshop winter show, Heroes, Gerard Sibleyras’s dramedy about World War I veterans. Originally written in French, it has been translated into English by award-winning playwright Tom Stoppard, famous for Rosencrantz and Guildernstern Are Dead.
Heroes is set in1959 at a military hospital for retired WWI veterans. The veterans spend their days in ongoing verbal battles about their military exploits and grumbling about the staff and their boring lives, until three of them decide to devise a plan to “go over the wall.”
The cast calls for three men, ages 60s or 70s, to play Henri (who has a bad leg), Gustave (an agoraphobic), and Philippe (who frequently passes out due to unremoved shrapnel in his brain).
Tryouts will be Dec. 9-10 at 7 p.m. at the Workshop at 1431 Grove St., Burlington. For information contact the director at 752-8501, go to the Workshop’s Facebook page, or go to www.playersworkshoptheater.com.
