The Wayland Lions Club held their March 19 meeting at the Wayland Community Center. There were 15 members in attendance.

President Bill Grimm called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance and gave the Invocation.

Then the meeting broke for a delicious meal catered by Alice Hochstetler.

At the resumption of the meeting, Lion Brian Pattyson read the minutes of last meeting and Terry Kaufman gave the Treasurer’s Report, which were both approved.

Old Business:

. President Grimm listed several projects for consideration on his agenda for the meeting. A discussion followed, but a consensus was not obtained on specific projects as yet.

. The members agreed to sponsor the Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 20, Blood Drive on June 6, Pancake Breakfast on July 4.

. It was agreed that the Lions Clubs International Insurance Policy would be in place for requiring events.

. Brian Pattyson discussed his meeting with Principal Tim Bartels at WACO High School. District 9SE Leo Club Chair, Sadhna Jani-Dhuna, spoke about her vast experience with the District 9SE Leo Clubs. Sadhna’s enthusiasm was well received by Principal Bartels, who thought re-establishing a WACO Leo Club would be in the school’s & student’s best interest. The first step would be seeking a member of his staff to volunteer as a Leo Adviser. Once the Leo Adviser is established, Principal Bartels will be Guest Speaker at the Wayland Lions Club, with the chosen Leo Club Adviser.

New Business:

. President Grimm welcomed and inducted two New Members:

1. Gail Simmering---Sponsor Marianne Pattyson

2. Randy Blake--Sponsor Jim Hester

. A donation was approved for the WACO After Prom Event

. A donation for Iowa Lions Foundation was tabled for next meeting, pending confirmation of some details.

. Building a ramp or other structure was discussed and awaiting the recipient’s decision on type of structure.

. The official meeting ended at 7:50 p.m.
