This week?s Friend on the Front Page is Dave Hutchcroft, a retired math teacher and coach at Mt. Pleasant.
Are you originally from Mt. Pleasant/Henry County? If not, what brought you here? I grew up in Washington and West Branch. I came here in 1984 as Head Girls Basketball coach and math teacher.
What is your favorite part of living here? Having good friends, good neighbors, seeing former students and athletes.
What do you like to do in your free time? Play bridge at Jerry?s, paint houses with Denny White, follow Cubs and Hawkeyes.
What is your ideal vacation? Taking my grandkids to Disney World.
Is there something Mt. Pleasant doesn?t have that you?d like to see? Gun range or Texas Road House.
What do you think is Mt. Pleasant/Henry County?s trademark? For me it is our sports teams ... they are all so well respected around the state.
What?s one dish or drink that reminds you of Mt. Pleasant? Dave Heaton?s Iris Restaurant was one of our favorite places to eat . I miss their Prime Rib and my wife misses their French onion soup. Wherever we go, when we have these it reminds us of the Iris Restaurant.
Tell us something interesting about you? I was the spotter for Jim Zabel and Ed Podolak in the WHO radio booth for Iowa football games.
