Every week, the Mt. Pleasant News will feature a Henry County resident in a profile snapshot. The questions will appear in bold.
This week?s ?Friend on the Front Page? is Eric Nygren, associate pastor at Wellspring Church.
Are you originally from Mt. Pleasant/Henry County? If not, what brought you here? My wife and I are originally from Columbus, Ohio. We moved to Iowa in 2005 after living in Chicago while I was in seminary. I pastored a church in Williamsburg, Iowa for nine years and then had the opportunity to come on staff at Wellspring Church here in Mt. Pleasant.
What is your favorite part of living here? Mt. Pleasant is a great place for families. I love our school system, especially the music program. There is a great sense of community here that makes it easy to move in and feel at home.
What is your favorite local hangout? We have a great local library. Libraries are underappreciated these days and ours is a great place to stop in and browse. You?ll find me looking through the non-fiction new releases.
Is there an annual event in Mt. Pleasant/Henry County that you enjoy? At the end of the fall season, I enjoy taking in the Mt. Pleasant All Bands Night at Mapleleaf. It?s a great way to see the talents of our musical students from 5th grade on up through high school.
Is there something Mt. Pleasant doesn?t have that you?d like to see? I would love to see a used bookstore here in Mt. Pleasant. Otherwise, I?d lobby for a Pancheros.
What is your favorite favorite springtime activity? Summer means walking up to Dairy Queen. We live close enough to walk, but far enough that it justifies ordering a Blizzard.
Tell us something interesting about you? Travel and missions trips have taken me to eight different countries on three different continents.
