This week?s ?Friend on the Front Page? is Allison White, who is the guidance counselor at the Mt. Pleasant Middle School.
Are you originally from Mt. Pleasant/Henry County? If not, what brought you here? No, I?m from Carbondale, Ill. I knew that I wanted to become a counselor so I went to the University of Iowa and after graduation I started looking for jobs in the area. This is my first year in Mt. Pleasant.
What is your favorite part of living here? I like that it?s a small town, but it doesn?t feel too small. I like that there?s a gym, a good grocery store and a college. It?s very diverse for a small town.
What is your favorite local hangout? The Rec Center.
What do you like to do in your free time? I like to workout, cook and watch T.V. I also go to Iowa City sometimes to listen to live music and watch plays.
Is there an annual event in Mt. Pleasant/Henry County that you enjoy? I really enjoyed Parent Night/Back to School night. It was a lot of fun.
Is there something Mt. Pleasant doesn?t have that you?d like to see? I wish there was a brewery here.
What is your favorite winter time activity? I try to workout a lot in the winter. But I also like to go out and look at the Christmas lights.
What do you think is Mt. Pleasant/Henry County?s trademark? Old Threshers is unique. It?s very quirky and charming. It celebrates the old, but still is very current.
What?s one dish or drink that reminds you of Mt. Pleasant? Keo?s. They have great burgers.
Tell us something interesting about you? I use to be a big Harry Potter fan. I also speak French fluently.
