WINFIELD ? The Winfield-Mt. Union boys? basketball team finished up their regular season schedule on Tuesday night with a home test against Lone Tree.
The Wolves were outscored by the Lions in all four quarters, falling to their SEISC North Division rivals 53-39.
Lone Tree was able to score consistently in each of the first three periods. It took a while for the W-MU offense to get going, and that pushed the Lions to a 12-7 advantage after one period and a 25-13 halftime lead.
The Lions stretched their lead to 38-24, after three periods. W-MU had their highest scoring period in the fourth, with 15, but Lone Tree exploded for 21 in the period to pull away with the 20-point win.
The Wolves were led by B.J. Rodgers, who dropped 17 points in the win. Cody McCreight scored 10 points of his own, giving the Wolves two double-digit scorers.
Daunte Oepping and Jared Arnold scored three points each in the loss. Nick Davis, Mitchell Niebuhr and Christian Gerot had two points apiece.
The Wolves finished eighth in the SEISC North Division but will have to play the six-seed from the south in the boys? shootout on Friday, Feb. 9. The Wolves would normally be matched up with eighth-place Holy Trinity, but the matchups were switched since W-MU and HTC will play in the district tournament on Monday, Feb. 12.
