SULLY ? The Winfield-Mt. Union softball team gave Lynnville-Sully everything they could handle on Tuesday night but the Wolves just couldn?t push a second run across in a 2-1 loss.
Lynnville-Sully scored the first two runs of the game, one in the bottom of the first and one in the bottom of the third.
Trailing 2-0 in the top of the fifth, the bottom of the W-MU order came through. Dakota Haines got on base with a double, and Liana Sweezer tripled to drive her home.
W-MU didn?t score for the rest of the game, however. Ana Schurr had a pinch-hit single in the seventh, and the Wolves had a couple of runners reach base, but Lynnville-Sully reliever Mallory Loftus escaped the jam and the W-MU season came to an end.
Madie Anderson threw six innings and gave up just two runs (one earned) on four hits and one walk, while striking out eight batters along the way.
