WINFIELD ? The Winfield-Mt. Union basketball team went 0-2 over the weekend falling at home to West Branch 89-27 on Friday, and dropping a road game 71-45 to West Burlington on Saturday.
The Wolves couldn?t hold down West Branch, giving up over 20 points in each quarter. On the flip side, the Wolves were unable to put together a double-digit scoring effort in any of the four periods.
B.J. Rodgers hit three shots from three-point land in the loss, finishing with 11 points. Cody McCreight had five points and blocked three shots. Jared Arnold scored five points. Bryant Holtkamp had four points and nine rebounds, and Nick Davis had two points.
The Wolves had a bad start on Saturday, getting outscored 25-6 in the first quarter and 17-10 in the second quarter. W-MU outscored the Falcons 31-29 over the final two periods, but didn?t have enough to overcome the big deficit.
Roders had 19 points and five steals on Saturday. McCreight finished with six points and nine rebounds, and Nolan Ross scored six points. Arnold finished the day with five points and four assists. Mitchell Niebuhr had four points. Holtkamp and Tristan Kauffman scored two points apiece, and Davis had one.
The Wolves fell to 1-4 with the two losses. They will take on Iowa Mennonite tonight (Tuesday) on the road, at 7:30 p.m.
