Winfield-Mt. Union baseball team downed by Holy Trinity

FT. MADISON ? Friday night was a rough one for the Winfield-Mt. Union baseball team. The Wolves fell 12-1 at Holy Trinity with the game ending in five innings.

HTC scored two runs in the first inning, two in the second, three in the third and five in the fourth. W-MU broke the shutout with one run in the top of the fifth.

W-MU had just three hits in the loss. Bryant Holtkamp, Dawson Bergthold and Mitchell Niebuhr all went 1-2 in the loss. Collin Simmons went 0-1 but did score the team?s only run.

W-MU also received its postseason assignment at the end of last week. W-MU and New London will both compete in Class 1A District 10, alnog with Cardinal, Danville, Holy Trinity, Iowa Mennonite, Keokuk, Notre Dame and Sigourney.

The other district in the substate (District 9) is made up of Belle Plaine, B-G-M, English Valleys, Highland, H-L-V, Iowa Valley, Lisbon, Lone Tree and Tri-County.
