WAYLAND ? Wayland will be appealing to the Enhance Henry County Communities Foundation for aid in purchasing a pair of handicapped-accessible items.
City council members, during Wednesday night?s regular meeting, approved a $4,000 grant application to Enhanced Henry County. The grant would be used to aid in the purchase of an ADA accessible dual water fountain outside city hall (to replace a worn drinking fountain) and a handicapped-accessible picnic table for Central Park.
Items were scant on Wednesday night?s agenda. The only other action item included unanimous approval of the purchase of a man-lift basket from Summitt Equipment for $1,897. The city received two other quotes for the basket. Zuma bid $2,300, and Budget, $2,350.
The basket, which is used to hang Christmas decorations and the trimming of trees, elicited brief discussion.
Council member Chet Fort questioned the size of the mesh floor basket, which is nearly 10 feet wide. ?For trimming trees, I like a smaller basket.?
?I don?t think you want anything smaller than this,? answered Mayor Bradley Roth.
Next regular meeting for the city council will be Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in City Hall.
