The Wayland Lions Club held their June meeting at the Wayland Community Center on Tuesday, June 19, with 14 members present. President Bill Grimm called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and led the Pledge of Allegiance while Robert Meyer gave the Invocation. After, the meeting broke for a delicious meal catered by Alice Hochstetler.
At the resumption of the meeting, Brian Pattyson read the minutes of the last meeting and Terry Kaufman gave the Treasurer?s Report. Both were approved.
An anniversary dinner is planned for October 16, for current members and their guests. The committee formed is comprised of President Bill Grimm and Lions Brian Pattyson and Stan Meyer.
The ?diabetes awareness program? still is under study for a future date.
The June blood drive was held at The Wayland Community Center on June 14 from 1:30 ? 6:30 p.m. Stan Meyer announced that over 42 units were donated. Stan said the Mississippi Valley Blood Drive coordinator commended the Wayland Lions Club for always being a leader in quantity of gallons donated. Their goal was 42 units and they collected 44. The average for other collection sites is 19 units.
The Wayland Lions Club will hold their July fourth pancake breakfast at the Wayland Community Center from 6:30-9:30 a.m. A donation is requested to support community charitable projects.
Treasurer Terry Kaufman reminded members that yearly membership dues are to be paid now as they need club membership intact for the recording deadline of Wednesday, June 27.
