WAYLAND ? Repairing roads from the hazards of winter is on the agenda for Wayland. Several streets have been marked as part of their annual project to patch and repair. In total, 14 projects are slated for improvement and the project is estimated to take two days.
At the city council meeting on Wednesday, April 18, the board decided to move forward with the $21,721.50 estimate from LL Pelling, of Iowa City. The estimate is over budget by $2,000 but the city does not foresee any problems raising that money in the meantime.
The project will begin in the summer and will only take two days. The construction is simply patching and repairing, not redoing any roads.
Last year the council repaired the entirety of Pearl St. and the project cost upward of $80,000. Depot St. is being marked for a similar repair next year, as it is not in the budget to perform construction this year.
The next meeting will be held on May 2, at 7:30 p.m., at City Hall.
