Washington shooting remains under investigation, victim alive

WASHINGTON - The victim of a Wednesday shooting in Washington is alive, however little else is known about the shooting that occurred on Wednesday, March 28, less than a block from the Washington County Courthouse.

According to a news release from the Washington County Communications Center, at about 6:50 p.m., Wednesday, the center received reports of a shooting at 106 S. Ave. B in Washington. Emergency personnel from the Washington Police Department, Washington County Sheriff?s office and Washington County Ambulance responded to the residence. One subject was transported by ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. According to a police report, the victim is alive, however no additional information regarding the victim?s condition is being released at this time.

An investigation into the incident is being conducted by the Washington Police Department and the Division of Criminal Investigation. The condition of the victim is not being released at this time.

At the scene Wednesday evening, Washington Police Chief Greg Goodman declined to comment on the incident except to say that he does not believe there is any danger to the public. The news release said that no further information will be released until after the investigation is completed.
