WACO basketball teams split weekend games with IMS, Sigourney

WAYLAND ? The WACO basketball teams each went 1-1 on back-to-back days this weekend. On Friday, the girls? team topped Iowa Mennonite 54-42, while the boys? team lost 57-42. The script was flipped the next day when the boys topped Sigourney 67-41 and the girls fell 53-32.

The girls? team was led by Kiana Miller on Friday night. Miller had 17 points and four steals in the win. Aubri Garnsey finished with 16 points, six assists and four steals. Kristen Conelly had 12 points and eight erbounds. Clara Schmitz finished with six points, and Laney Graber scored three.

Conelly tallied 15 points and eight rebounds to lead the Warrior girls in Saturday?s loss against Sigourney. Schmitz scoerd five points. Miller had four points and eight rebounds. Morgan Graber had three points. Grace Conwell and Nadiyah Brown scored two points apiece and Garnsey finished with one.

Drew Kissel led the Warrior boys in Friday night?s loss to IMS. He had 13 points and four assists. Nik Coble picked up a double-double with 10 points and 17 rebounds, also blocking two shots. Calvin Battle had five points. Conner Eichelberger scored four. Jacob Fried and Braden Hammond had three points each and the duo of Matthew Leichty and Gage Reichenbach scored two each.

Kissell had 19 pointes to lead the way in the win over Sigourney. Leichty and Hammoned scored six points apiece. Horak tallied four points and 11 rebounds. Eichelberger and Battle scored four points apiece, and Reichenbach finished with one.
