WINFIELD ? The Winfield-Mt. Union golf teams were at Twin Lakes Golf Course for the first time this season on Thursday, and they made the most of it, taking down Mediapolis in both matches. The boys? team dropped the Bulldogs 173-222, and the girls rolled the Bullettes 224-288.
The boys were led by defending Class 1A state champion Kaleb Hagge, who picked up right where he left off last year. Hagge shot a 38 on the par-36 course, sprinkling in birdies on hole two, four and five.
Nolan Ross was right behind Hagge all day. He shot a 41, making par on all but three holes. Graham Hagge shot a 46 and Jarod Kadel finished at 48 to round out the Wolves? scorers.
Kash Rossiter shot a 49, which outscored all Mediapolis golfers despite not scoring for W-MU. Noah Freeman was sixth on the team with a score of 56.
Lexee Hartsock scored a 52, which led W-MU and finished four spots back of Mediapolis? Ruthie Jahn for individual medalist honors. Lauren Hagge shot a 53 and Lauren Jamison scored 59 to give the Wolves three scores below 60.
Sabrina Moody rounded out the W-MU scorers with a score of 60. Makenna Mullin shot an 84.
The junior varsity boys had three players on the course. Brady Loyd shot a 48. Jacob Kongable finished at 53, and Seth Schurr rouded out the JV squad with a 56.
