Mt. Pleasant police were summoned Nov. 8 to the intersection of South Grand Avenue and East Harvest Drive to investigate a two-vehicle collision.
According to the accident report a 2005 Honda, owned and operated by James Lobdell of Mt. Pleasant, was stopped at the stop sign on Harvest Drive facing east. Lobdell was attempting to cross South Grand Avenue to drive into the entrance to Mt. Pleasant Community High School.
Steve Burkhart, Mt. Pleasant, was driving his 2003 Dodge pickup north on Grand Avenue, approaching the Harvest Drive intersection and had the right of way.
Lobdell, according to the police officer investigating the accident, failed to remain at the stop sign and pulled into the path of Burkhart?s truck. The truck struck the car, causing the car to spin around. Both vehicles came to rest in the high school entrance.
Lobdell had minor injuries and Burkhart was not injured.
Damage to Lobdell?s vehicle was estimated at $8,000, or a total loss. Burkhart?s truck sustained $5,000 in damage.
Lobdell also was charged with failure to yield.
