Two-vehicle collision on Cherry Street Friday

The Mt. Pleasant Police Department was notified of a traffic collision at the intersection of Cherry Street and Washington Street on Friday, July 13 at 3:18 p.m.

Upon investigation it was determined that a red 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix, operated by Deandre Severado, of Burlington, was traveling westbound and attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Cherry Street. As the Severado vehicle turned, it was struck in the front passenger side by a 2006 Chevy Equinox, operated by Kaela Reynolds, of New London.

The vehicles slid southbound on Cherry Street and into a USPS Delivery Truck that was parked at the time. As a result of the collision, both vehicles were considered a total loss. The USPS Delivery Truck received minor damage.

Minor injuries were reported at the scene.

Severado was cited for failure to yield upon left turn.

The Mt. Pleasant Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Mt. Pleasant Fire Department, the Henry County Health Center and Newberry Towing.
