Three of the four Henry County High Schools will be in action tonight (Tuesday), as New London, WACO and Winfield-Mt. Union host Southeast Iowa Superconference doubleheaders.
The W-MU basketball teams will host Mediapolis in their 2018 openers. The Lady Wolves will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak, but they will have an uphill battle against the eighth ranked Bullettes (Class 3A). Mediapolis enters tonight?s game at 8-0.
The W-MU boys are 1-8 but have a decent shot to snap a six-game skid of their own against the 1-6 Mediapolis boys. Both teams have beaten Columbus for their only wins. The Wolves topped Columbus 42-33, and the Bulldogs pulled out a 67-55 win over the Wildcats.
The WACO basketball teams will host Cardinal, a school that sports just one win combined out of the two teams.
The Warrior girls are 3-6 and will take on a 1-9 Cardinal team. The Comets? only win this season has come at home against Moravia, 48-47.
The Cardinal boys have yet to finish a game within single-digits of their opponents. The WACO boys come into the game with a 3-5 record.
New London will host Holy Trinity Catholic. The girls (1-8) will be looking for their second win of the season. They?ll face a Holy Trinity team that has lost their last three games, including a two-point home loss to Wapello in their last contest.
The New London boys hope to bounce back after a couple of South Division losses to end 2017. New London is still right in the thick of the Super Conference race and can help their cause with a win over a 2-6 Crusader team.
The Tiger boys are one of four South Division teams with two losses. West Burlington, Central Lee and Notre Dame have each lost two games in the conference. Danville leads the south with a 5-1 conference record.
All games will start with the girls playing at 6 p.m. The boys? games will follow at approximately 7:30 p.m.
