LETTS ? Things have been looking bright on the softball diamond for the New London girls this season. The tigers collected two more wins this week to run their season record to 5-1.
On Tuesday, the Tigers beat Danville 4-3 on a walk-off error to win the game in extra innings, and on Wednesday, they pounded Lone Tree 14-0.
New London trailed 3-0 after 5.5 innings on Tuesday, but they tied the game with a three-run bottom of the sixth.
The two teams were scorelss in the seventh frame, but Laney Loyd came in for the game-winning run in the eighth after a Danville throwing error following a bunt by Breanna Mettler.
Sydni Coleman was 3-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored in the win. Loyd was 3-4 with two runs scored. Mettler finished 1-3 with a double, an RBI and a run, and Alexa Wenger was 2-4 with a double and an RBI.
Camryn Blint threw three shutout innings in relief to pick up the win. Coleman started and threw five innings. The two pitchers combined for 10 strikeouts, netting five each.
New London?s win over Lone Tree lasted just five innings. The Tigers scored three runs in the first inning, six in the third and five in the fifth.
Blint got another win, giving up just four hits over her five innings of work and striking out six batters. Mettler went 3-4 with four RBIs. Wenger went 2-3. Mara Hartrick was 1-3 with a double and two RBIs. Carson McSorley went 1-4 with a triple and two RBIs. Kara Krieger went 1-2 with two RBIs.
