Tiger baseball swept in final series

The Iowa Wesleyan baseball team wrapped up their season this weekend, falling 11-0(8) on Saturday, April 28, and dropping games 9-7 and 18-6(8) on Sunday, April 29.


The Tigers had a rough game one on Sunday, collecting just five hits in an 11-0 loss. Webster scored two runs in the second inning, six in the third and three in the eighth. Cody Brown picked up the loss on the mound, throwing two innings and giving up six runs (five earned) on two hits and five walks.


The Tigers had some early fireworks in game one on Sunday. Webster scored one in the top of the first, but IW took the lead on two solo homeruns, one by Joseph Belarde in the first inning and one by Travis Gile in the second.


Webster scored the next eight runs of the ballgame and led 9-2 after 6.5 innings, but IW wouldn?t go down without a fight. The Tigers cut the lead to two with a five-run sixth inning, scoring two on an Alex Payne double and three on a Chazz Brown double.


Brown finished 2-4 with three RBIs to lead the team offensively. Mitchell Wilcox started and picked up the loss on the mound, giving up six runs (five earned) on six hits and two walks over 3.2 innings.


IW couldn?t contain an onslaught of Gorlok runs in the final game of the series. Paker Leland went 1-4 with four RBIs in the loss. Leonard was 2-4 with a run and both Tyler Cooksey and Matthew Murphy scored two runs in the loss.
