Tiger baseball rolling along

FT. MADISON ? The New London baseball team won three games in three days this week, all coming against Southeast Iowa Super Conference opponents.


The Tigers beat Danville at home 5-1 on Tuesday, took out Lone Tree 7-4 on the road Wednesday and rolled at Holy Trinity 14-5 on Thursday to run their winning streak to five games.


New London scored the first two runs of the game on Tuesday, plating two in the first inning. Danville cut the lead to 2-1 in the top of the fifth but the Tigers added three insurance runs in the fifth.


Isaac McSorley had a big game, going 3-3 with two triples, two runs and two stolen bases. Britt Noel went 2-2 with an RBI, a run and a stolen base.


Javis Krieger picked up the win on the mound. He threw four innings and gave up just one earned run, allowing no hits and six walks, while striking out six batters. Darius Whaley and Noel each took the mound in relief, and the Tiger trio combined for a one-hitter.


New London scored five runs in the third inning and two in the fifth to take a 7-0 lead over Lone Tree on Wednesday. The Lions plated two runs in the bottom of the fifth and two in the seventh, but New London still got out with a three-run win.


Shae Summerfield led the offense, going 2-3 with a double, there RBIs and one run scored. McSorely finished the game 2-4 with a double and a run scored. Noel, Whaley, Javis Krieger and Ryan Richey each knocked in one run.


McSorley picked up the win on the mound. He threw four and one-thirds innings, giving up two unearned runs on one hit and two walks, while striking out five batters. Noel appeared in relief.


New London scored in all but one inning on Thursday at Holy Trinity. The Tigers scored two runs in the first, three in the second, one in the fourth, three in the fifth, one in teh sixth and four in the seventh. HTC scored two in the first, one in the third and two in the seventh.


Noel went 4-4 in the win over HTC. He had a triple, a double, two RBIs and three runs scored. Whaley went 3-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Summerfield was 3-5 with two doubles, a run and two RBIs. Sam Loyd went 2-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Richey and Boyer had two RBIs each. McSorley, Mason Porter and Keontae Luckett all had one RBI.
