Thomas William Sater, 69, of Mt. Pleasant, died Friday, July 27, 2018 at Savannah Heights, Mt. Pleasant. He was born January 20, 1949 in Mt. Pleasant to William O. and Helen E. Warth Sater.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Mt. Pleasant; a 1967 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School; and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree at the School of Associated Fine Arts in St. Paul, MN.
Tom worked at Marshall Fields in Chicago for 35 years in the Fine Arts Department. He had an artist?s eye and paid attention to every detail; was a people person; enjoyed cooking and entertaining, collecting antiques, Heisey glass, and sterling silver; and loved helping others. He traveled the world and especially loved Paris. He attended every Old Threshers and enjoyed working there.
He is survived by two nieces, Charlyce (Jeff) Ruth of Rogersville, MO and Lisa Sater Gately of Vancouver, WA.; one great-niece, Hailey Gately; one great-nephew, Wyatt Gately; a brother-in-law, Jon G. (Jack) Pugh of Greenfield, MO; and a multitude of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary Ellen Pugh.
According to his wishes, his body has been cremated. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, August 3rd at First Presbyterian Church with The Rev. Trey Hegar will officiate. Visitation will be from noon to 9 PM on Thursday at Kimzey Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant where the family will receive friends from 5 ? 7 PM. Memorials have been established for First Presbyterian Church, Mt. Pleasant; Midwest Old Threshers; and Dover Museum, New London.
