With the groundbreaking for the Henry County Law Enforcement Center imminent, the Henry County Board of Supervisors finalized yet more paperwork during their meeting on Tuesday, May 8.
Supervisors Marc Lindeen and Greg Moeller approved two resolutions. The first appointed Bankers Trust Company, of Des Moines, as registrar and paying agent for over $8 million in loan notes for the jail.
The second resolution incorporates tax exception certificates and continuing disclosure certificates, County Auditor Shelly Barber said. Tax levy will begin being collected in fiscal year July 1, 2019 and end with the tax levy collected fiscal year July 1, 2036. The amount will be in increments of over $600,000 annually.
To approve the resolutions, Supervisors needed a majority vote. Supervisor Gary See was not present at Tuesday?s meeting.
Groundbreaking for the jail will be Wednesday, May 16 at 10 a.m. at 800 S. Grand Ave. in Mt. Pleasant.
