Seventh-grade girls top Keokuk, fall to FM

FT. MADISON ? The Mt. Pleasant seventh-grade girls? ?A? team fell to 9-1 on the year with a 15-14 loss in Ft. Madison on Tuesday. The Panthers had won their first nine games before picking up their first loss.

The Panthers came back from a 10-4 deficit in the third quarter to nearly steal the game. They trailed 6-2 after the first quarter and 8-4 at the half.

Kate Schimmelpfennig led Mt. Pleasant with six points in the loss. Tristian Shull scored four points and the duo of Andrea Lopreato and Leah Allen scored two apiece.

The Mt. Pleasant ?A? team had a number of blowout wins in their first nine games, including a 45-6 thrashing of Ottumwa in the season opener. Their latest win was a 37-19 shootout against Keokuk.

Lopreato against the Chiefs. Shull scored 13. Schimmelpfennig had five and both Allen and Kylee Coleman had two.

The ?B? team is 7-2 with their last victory coming over the Chiefs as well. They topped Keokuk 22-9 after outscoring them 16-0 at halftime and 20-1 in the first three quarters.

The Panther ?B? team was led by Ashlie Bentler with 10. Jacara Ivey had two. Jema Settles, Allie Westercamp, Summer Carver and Meliah Gillespie scored two points each.
