Savannah Heights opening delayed, staff hopes to move-in in the next 2 weeks

Construction hiccups at Savannah Heights has pushed the move-in date for the new nursing home facility.

While Savannah Heights Administrator Penny Moellers and the rest of the staff planned on opening the facility earlier this month after passing a fire inspection in April, the doors remain closed as they work with the fire marshal for approval.

?We look forward to the move as much as everyone else does,? Moellers said, adding that they anticipate moving in the next two weeks. ?We?ve had a few hiccups due to new construction, but we?re on the right path.?

Residents driving by Savannah Heights should start to see new signs posted outside of the facility that sits behind Hy-Vee in the next couple weeks too.

?The staff can?t wait, elders can?t wait, everybody?s ready,? Moellers said.

Savannah Heights held an open house, attended by Gov. Kim Reynolds, in February. It is a property from Capstone Management, which has nursing facilities across the Midwest.
