Rep. Heaton receives lifetime achievement award from Epilepsy Foundation Iowa

DES MOINES ? On Wednesday, March 7, the Epilepsy Foundation Iowa Chapter presented Representative Dave Heaton, of Mt. Pleasant with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Heaton, a retired teacher and restaurant owner, is serving his 12th term representing House District 84, which includes Henry, Jefferson, Lee and Washington counties.

?Rep. Heaton has been a friend and supporter of individuals living with epilepsy for over 10 years in the Iowa Legislature and is very deserving of special recognition from Epilepsy Foundation,? said Kim Novy, Board Member of Epilepsy Foundation Iowa. ?He has actively worked to strengthen our public health system, ensure access to care for patients, and has funded support to individuals living with epilepsy. We have admired his tenacity over the years and will miss his leadership in the Iowa House.?

Heaton received the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition for his work on the Health and Human Services Budget Committee and Human Resources Committee. He continually goes out of his way to educate himself on all health care-related issues, both in the interim and during session.

Heaton has continually demonstrated his dedication to Iowa and has been a prominent voice for Iowa?s overall health care system and for individuals with disabilities. The Epilepsy Foundation thanks Heaton for his 12 terms dedicated to public health and patient access issues.
