Programs at Oakland Mills

On June 7, at 10 a.m., The Oakland Mills Nature Center will present, ?Butterflies are Important? to the ACORN club.

An informative PowerPoint will be presented by Danika Cox, Assistant Naturalist for the Henry County Conservation Department.

This free event will include fun facts, gardening tips and will be followed by a make-and-take butterfly feeder activity.

To ensure enough supplies for all participants, the RSVP deadline is June 4.

ACORN is a club for those interested in conservation topics who are 18 years of age and older.

On June 19, at 6 p.m. in the Oakland Mills Nature Center, the Henry County Conservation Department?s June At the Park activity will be a photography lesson and contest, by Wanda Broeker, art teacher and professional photographer.

The free presentation will begin with tips on getting to know your camera followed by how to photograph wildlife.

After, time will be given for a hike and a few test photos with Wanda available for critique and suggestions.

Photography contest and rules will be announced by the conservation staff at the close of the program.

Preregistration is appreciated, but not necessary, at The event is open to all ages and requires a camera.

Photos entered for this contest must have been taken after this program.
