Police searching for van involved in hit-and-run

Mt. Pleasant?s Police Department is looking for a dark green mini van with two black bumpers following a hit-and-run accident.

The driver of the van was described as a middle-age white male with facial hair. Police said the van would be missing front driver?s side bumper parts.

According to the police department?s accident report, Shelby Hartman of Morning Sun was driving a 2009 Dodge south on North Broadway Street, approaching the intersection of West Orange Street.

A dark green mini van was northbound and crossed the centerline and struck the Dodge in the front driver-side corner. The van continued into a parking lot and stopped in the grass on the west side of the road. The van later pulled out, and the driver left the scene.

Damage to the Dodge was estimated at $500. Damage to the van is unknown. Anyone with information about the van is asked to call the Mt. Pleasant Police Department at 319-385-1450.
