The No. 6 Mt. Pleasant boys? basketball team made it two wins in two days on Saturday with a dominant 75-35 win over Central Lee. The Panthers cruised past the Hawks one day after their home win over Washington.
Central Lee stayed relatively close to Mt. Pleasant in the first quarter. Isaac Moeller kept the Hawks within striking distance with a nine-point first quarter, which included a half-court shot. The Panthers still led however, 12-9 after one period.
The starting Panther backcourt combined for 25 of the team?s 26 points in the second quarter. Colin Mulford had 14 points at halftime to lead the team and the Panthers opened up a 38-22 lead.
Mt. Pleasant was able to pour it on in the second half. Brady Sartorius scored 13 points in the third quarter to help the Panthers stretch their advantage to 61-28 after three quarters and Mt. Pleasant put the cherry on top with a 14-7 fourth quarter.
Sartorius finished the night with 27 points and four steals, both of which led the team. Mulford had an efficient night, scoring 15 points on 5-6 shooting and 2-2 from three-point land. Jordan Magnani scored 10 points and six assists, and Jonathan Ita scored 10 points of his own.
Rhett Zeglen had five points in the win. Kieran Kohorst scored four. Sam Beatty had three and Tucker Johnson scored one.
The Panthers moved to 8-2 with their fifth-straight win. They?ll take on Iowa City Liberty on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at 7:30 p.m.
