Panther profile: Tori Witthoft

By Andy Krutsinger, Mt. Pleasant News

Tori Witthoft is a senior at Mt. Pleasant High School and a member of the Panther girls? golf team.

Witthoft was part of the state-qualifying team in 2017 and was the first-alternate on the 2016 squad.

Witthoft met with The News last Thursday before practice. The questions are in bold with her answers following.

Did you grow up here in Mt. Pleasant? Yes, I did.

How long have you been playing golf? Four years.

What got you into it? Kiley Miller actually got me into it.

Do you know what you?re doing after high school? I?m going to go to Indian Hills for the culinary program.

Do you have big plans for the future with that? I hope to open up my own restaurant in the future, but I don?t know if that is going to happen.

Favorite course that you have played at? I think I like Flint Hills in Burlington. There are not very many trees, and it?s fairly easy.

When you go to a course, what scares you the most? Is it the big trees, or water, or sand? Trees. They get me. I tend to go towards trees.

Word or phrase that Coach Booton says most often to you girls? I want to say ?shhh,? but it?s not really a phrase.

Like telling you guys to quiet down? Yeah, because we?re either complaining about something or we?re always talking.

Oh, so just shushing you? Yeah!

Who?s the one he shushes the most? Probably Elli (Liechty) this year. She?s quite the talker!

Which of your teammates is the most competitive? I would say Melody Miller. She wants to be up at the top, and I think she deserves it.

Which would make a better stand-up comedian? Elli.

Do you have any nicknames? My given name is Victoria and I go by ?Tori.? Or ?Tor-Tor.? That?s what Anni (Liechty) usually calls me.

Favorite type of music? Probably today?s stuff.

Do you have any irrational fears? Honestly I don?t think so, but if you ask somebody else, I probably do. I mean?bugs, but I can tolerate them. So I don?t really have one.

If you could spend the day with one celebrity, who would you choose? There are so many! I would have to say probably Anne Burrell. She?s a chef that wears her hair crazy.

Is she on the food channel? Yeah.

Do you watch all that stuff, like Iron Chef and those shows? Yeah! (Laughing)

It might be obvious, but what would you guys do? Probably cook, and learn her way of doing things.

Back to your love of cooking, do you have a favorite dish to make? I?ve been cooking a lot of beef wellington lately. It?s pretty good.

What if you could pick a superpower? The ability to do multiple things in a day.

Like, multitasking? Yes!

That?s more like a regular skill though, not a super power. Well I?m going to turn it in to a super power!

Favorite teacher? Mrs. Beckman. Not just because she?s in culinary, but she?s kind of like a second mom. I?ve been with her through all four years and she?s been there to push me along.

Do you have any shout outs? Thank you mom and dad for helping me through these past 18 years and pushing me to do my best.
