Panther JV falls at CCA

TIFFIN ? The Mt. Pleasant junior varsity team traveled to Tiffin on Thursday night for their first game of the season. The Panthers lost a nail-biter, 20-18, to drop to 0-1 to start the season.

The Panthers and Clippers were locked in a tight battle all game. The score was 6-6 until late in the fourth quarter when a chaotic final three minutes saw dueling scores.

The Clippers got the last laugh. CCA was able to convert with a go-ahead score with less than a minute on the clock.

The Panthers had 274 yards of total offense, led by Orin Cantu, who rushed for 124 yards on 21 carries.

Brody Bender had nine completions on the day for 86 yards. Brevin Wilson had three catches for 61 yards and Chase Williamson had two catches for 10 yards.

The Mt. Pleasant special teams put one into the end zone on a kickoff return. Williamson took his only kick return on the night 75 yards to the end zone.

Klayton Kleinkopf had eight tackles on the night to lead the defense. Williamson finished the night with six tackles and Avery Scandridge had 4.5 tackles.
