BLOOMFIELD ? The Mt. Pleasant girls? basketball team bounced back from Saturday?s home loss with a dominant road win on Tuesday night. The Panthers crushed Davis County 60-30, winning every quarter on the night.
Mt. Pleasant took a 12-8 lead after the first quarter and dropped 20 points in the second to help stretch the lead to 32-20 at halftime.
The Panthers continued to pull away with a 13-8 advantage in the third quarter, and dominated the fourth period 15-2 to double up Davis County and move back above .500, at 4-3.
Maddie Williamson led the Panther scoring effort with 22 points on 8-18 shooting, including two makes from three-point land. Kalynn Batey filled the stat sheet once again, tallying 19 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks.
Elli Liechty had the biggest game of her career so far. The freshman scored 10 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Taylor Murray finished the game with four points, eight assists, six steals and three blocks. Sadie Carrasco and Isabel Ashton each scored two points, and Lexie Magnani finished with one.
The junior varsity Panthers picked up a win as well, taking down the Mustangs 42-27. Lexie Magnani led the way with 14 points and nine rebounds. Lydia Stewart had 11 points. Grace Bittle scored six points and pulled down eight rebounds. Serenity Keomanivong added five points, and Liechty, Emma Huckabone and Avery Sutter all had two points each.
The varsity Panthers will play host to West Burlington on Thursday, Dec. 21, at 6 p.m. The varsity boys? game will follow.
