Panther boys? track team wins in Pella

PELLA ? The Mt. Pleasant track and field teams competed in the Tulip Time Relays in Pella on Thursday. The boys? team won with 201 points, topping second-place Pella by 47 points. The girls? team placed third, finishing 55 points behind the Pella?s top score of 160 points.

The Panthers won 11 events, nine of which came on the boys? side. The boys also had three one-two finishes.

Jacob Stukerjurgen and Kyle Vanderham finished first and second in the 800-meter run. Stukerjurgen won in 2:03.78, and Vanderham was second in 2:04.14.

Cole Burns took the 110-meter hurdles in 15.01 seconds. Chase Lamm finished second place in 15.23 seconds.

Cody Mertens took both distance events. Mertens won the 3200-meter run in 10:05.84, and the 1600-meter run in 4:53.43. Dalton Moyle finished second in the 1600-meter run, crossing in 5:03.71.

The Panther boys won two field events. Sam Beatty took the high jump with a leap of 6-00 and Rylan Seberg won the long jump in 20-06.

Mt. Pleasant also took three relay teams. The 4X400 team of Stukerjurgen, Jonathan Ita, Brody Bender and Vanderham won in 3:42.99. The 4X800 team of Stukerjurgen, Bender, Ita and Vanderham took first in 8:32.96. The Panther shuttle hurdle team won the event in 1:00.17.

Maggie Cristoforo took first place in the girls? 400-meter hurdles, crossing the tape in 1:08.55. The distance medley squad of Dani Broeker, Avery Sutter, Cristoforo and Taylor Murray won that relay in 4:35.77.
