MARION ? The Mt. Pleasant boys? soccer team had their hands full on Monday, May 7. The Panthers hit the road to take on an undefeated Marion team. They were unable to hand Marion their first loss of the season, dropping the game 3-1.
The lone Panther goal was from Ovidio Reyes, who scored off an assist by Jayden Vongsavath. Marion picked up two goals from sophomore Jaffer Murphy and one from freshman Samuel Murphy.
The Panthers fell to 7-4 overall this season with the loss. They have one more Southeast Conference game, which will take place on Thursday, May 10, at 4:30 p.m., when they take on Washington.
Mt. Pleasant is currently 5-2 in the SEC, and can lock up at least a second-place finish with a win on Thursday. The Panthers will need to win and hope for Fairfield to lose their last two conference games against Ft. Madison and Keokuk to get a piece of the conference crown.
