Noble, Tigers lead after day one at state

MARSHALLTOWN ? With one day complete at the Class 1A girls? state golf tournament in Marshalltown, New London sits atop the team standings.


The Tigers shot a 367 on Tuesday, positioning themselves two strokes ahead of second-place Iowa Valley and 12 strokes ahead of third place Bishop Garrigan.


The Tigers are led by overall leader Casey Noble, who shot six over par on day one. Her 77 is three strokes ahead of the rest of the field. Clayton Ridge?s Courtney Olson and Mt. Ayr?s Abbey Schafer are tied for second at 80 apiece.


The next New London golfer on the list is Addie Pry. Pry shot a 94, which puts her in a tie for 23rd place with five other players.


Summer Mallott is just three strokes behind Pry. Mallott is sitting in 33rd with her 97 and was the third Tiger scorer on day one.


The fourth scorer was Jaden Streeter. Streeter shot a 99 on Tuesday, which made New London the only team with four scores under 100. She currently sits in a three-way tie for 38th overall.


Carlie Loyd finished day one at 118 for New London. She is currently tied for 77th. Hannah Orberg?s 150 is sitting in 83rd overall.


Day two began today (Wednesday) at 8:30 a.m. A Class 1A team and individual champion will be crowned before the day is done.
