NEW LONDON ? The New London softball team flexed its muscle with a mercy-rule win on Monday night. The Tigers ran over Central Lee 13-2 in a game that went just five innings.
Central Lee scored first with a run in the second inning but New London took over with six in the third to take a 6-1 lead. The Hawks added another run in the fourth inning but the Tigers added two in the fourth and five in the fifth to run away with the win.
Layney Loyd had a big game, going 2-5 with five RBIs in the win. Breanna Mettler was 2-4 with three RBIs.
Carson McSorley and Sofie Reinhard each went 2-3. Ashlyn McSorley was 2-2 and Camryn Blint was 1-2. Sydni Coleman was the winning pitcher in the game.
