The Mt. Pleasant bowling teams hosted the state-qualifying bowling meet on Tuesday. The Panthers hosted Keokuk, Cedar Rapids Xavier and North Scott.
Mt. Pleasant was unable to advance any teams or individuals to the state meet, scoring a 2,473 in the boys? competition and a 2,076 in the girls? portion of the meet. North Scott won the boys? qualifier with a 3,120. The Keokuk boys advanced with an at-large score of 3,097, and the Xavier girls moved on with a 2,649.
The boys? team was led by Brandon Parton. He threw a 192 in his first game and a 203 in his second game to score 395. Levi Mills scored a 330, throwing a 169 and a 161. Sam Anderson gave the Panthers three 300-plus scores, throwing a 176 and a 149 to total out at 325.
Mark Steinhoff rolled a 180 in his first game and a 119 in his second game, giving him a 299 total. Ethan Oilar rolled a 139 and a 138 to total out at 227, and Tristan Dirth rolled a 146 and a 108 to finish at 254.
Baker games for the Panther boys went 181, 216, 177, 150 and 123 for a total of 847.
The Panther girls were led by Kelsey Hummell. She threw a 160 in her first game and a 147 in her second game to equal out at 307. Emily Shumaker rolled a 133 and a 145 to finish the day at 278. Alexis Wohlleber finished at 268, throwing a 141 in her first game and a 127 in her second game.
Tylisa Kelley threw a 127 and a 126 to total out at 253. Gillian Anderson threw a 128 and a 104 to finish at 232, and Rachel Kuckes threw 112 in both her games to end the day at 224.
Baker scores for the varsity girls went 152, 151, 172, 139 and 124, giving them a total of 738.
The qualifying teams will compete in the state co-ed bowling tournament in Waterloo, which begins Monday, February 19, and runs through Wednesday, February 21.
